Sonia Gandhi to open Medical College for women in Sonepat

Sonepat, February 28 (ANI): Congress President Sonia Gandhi will lay the foundation stone of a medical college for women in Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya at Khanpur Kalan village of Sonepat on Sunday.

She will also unveil the statue of Bhagat Phool Singh in the campus.

Gandhi was scheduled to visit the village on February 9, but her visit was cancelled on account of the sudden death of Ranbir Singh Hooda, a veteran freedom fighter and father of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

After visiting Sonepat, Sonia Gandhi will visit Uchana Kalan village where she will inaugurate the Rajiv Gandhi Mahavidyalya.

Haryana Finance Minister Birender Singh said that Sonia Gandhi would unveil a statue of Rajiv Gandhi and dedicate the educational institute to the people of the state.

Sonia Gandhi is likely to address a public meeting at the college campus later in the day. (ANI)
