Malegaon blasts: Lt Col Purohit gets bail
Pune, Feb 28: In a major blow to the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), a magistrate court in Pune has granted bail to Malegaon blasts accused Lt Col Prasad Purohit on Saturday, Feb 28.
Court granted him bail after Maharastra ATS failed to file a charge sheet within the stipulated 90 days deadline.
Purohit has been accused in possessing fake arms licence in connection with the Malegaon blasts. Judicial magistrate G G Itkalkar ordered Purohit"s release on a bail of Rs 15,000 and a surety of a like amount.
Purohit was directed to be present in the ATS office whenever required for investigations. He was also cautioned against tampering with evidence. He was also cautioned against tampering with evidence.
Though the court has ordered Purohit"s release on bail, he will not be released from jail because he is facing trial in three blast cases at Malegaon, Jalna and Nanded.
