Kashmir tense following youths killing

By Super Admin

Srinagar, Feb 25 (ANI): A curfew like situation prevailed in Srinagar on Wednesday over the killing of two young men, allegedly by the army.

Security personnel were on guard in almost every part of the city with deserted streets.

The city bore a deserted look with vehicles barred from plying on road.

"Because of the undeclared curfew today, we are facing a lot of inconvenience. We don't even know in which all places have they declared the curfew and where all the government and private vehicles are allowed to ply. Wherever we are going, we are being stopped. Even those on cycles are being stopped," said Nisar Ahmad, a resident.

Over the last few days, the region has been witnessing violent protests over the death of Shabir Ahmad Sheikh, cousin of chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Yasin Malik.

"The situation prevailing today is due to the incident which took place in Sopore last week," said Ghulam Hassan, a resident.

Authorities have ordered a probe into the deaths, which took place on February 21 evening after soldiers allegedly fired at a vehicle.

Meanwhile, army said they are investigating the shooting incident in which three villagers were also wounded. (ANI)
