Lahore, Feb. 4 (ANI): A private TV channel has claimed that the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) have finalized a power-sharing deal in Punjab that will be disclosed at an appropriate time.

The channel quoted PML-Q sources as saying that the Party has decided to form an alliance with the PPP 'if the need arises', after its efforts for the reunifications with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) failed.

Sources claim that Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer and former Punjab chief minister Pervaiz Elahi (PML-Q) met on Tuesday to discuss a political strategy in case the Supreme Court verdict goes against the Sharif brothers in their electoral eligibility case.

A three-member bench of the Supreme Court is hearing the case of the electoral eligibility of the Sharif brothers. Nawaz Sharif's council will present his arguments on Wednesday.

Sources revealed that the governor had offered the chief minister position to the former ruling party if Shahbaz Sharif gets disqualified.

Pervaiz Elahi's son Moonis Elahi, who was also present at the meeting, said, "They only discussed the issue of 'harassment' of the district nazims by the Punjab government. Efforts are being made to destroy the system but the Governor has assured them he would discuss the issue with the President."

Moonis also denied the rumours that he was willing to become the chief minister of Punjab. (ANI)
