Chicago, Feb 4 (ANI): The makers of Malia and Sasha dolls have been forced to withdraw the toys from the market following the ire of US First Lady Michelle Obama.

She had accused the company Ty, Inc., the makers of Beanie Babies for exploiting her daughters.

The company's web site featured pictures of the dolls marked with the word "retired.''

A company representative had at first revealed that baby dolls are inspired by Obama girls but later backtracked claiming that the monikers of the African-American dolls -- Sweet Sasha and Marvelous Malia -- were chosen because they "are beautiful names.''

Meanwhile, White House lawyers are moving to restraint the commercial use of President Obama's name and image.

"Our lawyers are working on developing a policy that will protect the presidential image while being careful not to squelch the overwhelming enthusiasm that the public has for the president," Chicago Sun-Times quoted White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki as telling Bloomberg News. (ANI)
