'Yarnbombing' the new knit and drape rage among Brits
London, January 24 (ANI): Age-old art of knitting has hopped household domains to become the latest fad amongst Brits who have draped lampposts, trees and even buses with colourful wool.
The practice, dubbed as 'yarnbombing', which has it origin in the United States and has spread to Britain, involves artists to choose a target and give it a complete make-over during the night - just like graffiti.
"It is about the community taking pride in their surroundings and making it look nice and colourful," the Daily Express quoted artist Sarah Hardacre, from Salford, as saying.
The "new graffiti" was introduced when Magda Sayeg swathed a door handle and a traffic sign outside her clothes shop, which prompted hundreds to take snaps.
The lady from Texas further went on to wrap a single decker bus.
She said: "Luckily I had a whole team to help me with the bus but it took a week to do. We used large chunky needles and dozens of balls of yarn to fully cover the whole vehicle.
"Using knitting as a form of graffiti is a crazy phenomenon and there is no other hobby like it." (ANI)
