Higher Wage: Reason for Armed forces to cheer
New Delhi, Jan 1: Defence sources on Thursday, Jan 1 declared that the Lieutenant Colonels and their equivalent officers in the Indian Air Force (IAF) and Navy will now be placed in a higher pay cateogry and status.
On Dec 22, Indian Prime Minister had cleared the proposal that will put atleast 12k more in the officers pockets every month. Defence Ministry said that the notification regarding this will be issued shortly.
However the government rejected other proposal to equate Lietenant Generals and their equivalent officers in the other two services with Director Generals of State Police. Government rejected this proposal despite being aware that this decision is likely to create functional problems between civilian officers and Lieutenant Generals
