'Bikini killer's' fate to be decided on Jan 13
Kathmandu, Dec 29: The Nepal Supreme Court on Jan 13 will decide the fate of Charles Sobhraj, 'bikini killer' ('Serpent') on Jan 13. The 64-year-old Sobhraj who is languishing in Kathmandu's central jail has been accused of luring young women and killing many of them. The criminal 'mastermind' was arrested from a Kathmandu casino in August 2003 and has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a District Court in July 2004 on charges of murdering an American tourist, Connie Jo Bronzich, in Kathmandu in 1975.
The Patan Appellate Court had earlier endorsed the district court's decision in an appeal by Sobhraj, who then turned to the Supreme Court as the last resort, pleading innocence.
The hearing has been marked by repeated postponements and delays.
