High alert sounded on Gujarat coast
Ahmedabad, Dec 4: On the basis of some specific information which the Gujarat home ministry received, a high alert has been sounded in the coastal districts on Thursday, Dec 4. Coastal districts like Kutch, Jamnagar and several ports, including the Kandla port, have been put on high alert.
Sources say that the state Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) have also been asked to prepare a status report on the coastal security. After the recent Mumbai terror strikes, the Coast Guard and the Navy have come under sharp criticism for allegedly ignoring intelligence inputs about terrorists taking the sea route to carry out their plans inside the Indian territory.
But the armed forces have maitained that the inputs from the intelligence community was not 'specific' or 'actionble' but mere routine warnings given at regular intervals.
