Bomb hoax at Chennai Central railway station
Chennai, Nov 21: An anonimous call stating that bombs would go off at the Chennai Central railway station premises turned out to be a hoax on Friday, Nov 21. According to the Railway and police sources the call was received at about 0600 hrs (IST), stating that the bombs would explode in the station between 0800 to 0900 hrs.
Senior Government Railway Police officials, city police and Railway Protection Force (RPF) along with sniffer dogs, made a thorough search of the station for nearly four hours. However, no explosives were found. Even the EMU suburban trains and passengers and their belongings were also subjected to thorough checks. Efforts were on to trace the prankster who had made the hoax call, putting the police and Railway personnel on tenterhooks.
