Mah: Saffron art raises Rs 3.93 cr for flood victims

Mumbai, Nov 15: The recently held Artists Flood Relief Charity Auction, which saw works of 31 contemporary artists go under the hammer, has raised Rs 3.93 crore.

The auction, organised by Saffron Art, was held on November 11-12. Subodh Gupta's work 'Untitled' went under the hammer for a whopping Rs 1.73 crore, while Harti Kher's 'This Way and Never Another Way' got Rs 84.52 lakh, a release said here yesterday.

Their works were followed by Ranbir Kaleka's 'Man with Torch' for Rs 35.21 lakh, Riyas Komu's 'Uttara-II' at Rs 17.69 lakh, Thukral and Tagra's 'Somnium Genero-Canor 4,5,6' at Rs 12.85 lakh.

The proceeds from the charity auction will benefit Samajik Shaikshanik Vikas Kendra (SSVK) and Goonj to support their flood relief work in eastern India, the release added.
