Raipur, Nov 12: BJP president Rajnath Singh on Wednesday, Nov 12 said that UPA government was targetting Hindu saints and leaders for political reasons to divide the country on communal lines. He spoke in defence of BJP MP Yogi Adityanath.

''The UPA government is playing with fire and they will have to pay for trying to communalise the country in the name of terrorism by playing with Hindu sentiments'', he said. ''On one hand the centre was doing nothing against growing terrorism in the country while on the other it was targetting the Hindu religious leaders in the name of terrorism'', Mr Singh told in a news conference here.

''Interrogation of two persons of Gorakhnath Peeth by the Anti Terrorist Squad of Maharashtra shows that police was trying to make out a case against Adityanath which would not be allowed'', he alleged.

The BJP President also said that police efforts to link several religious saints started after the murder of Swami Laxmanandji Maharaj by implicating Swami Awadeshanand Maharaj, Sadhvi Prayga and now Yogi Adityanath. It also proves that the government was trying to create communal division over terrorism.

''No community or caste should be linked with terrorism and it was unfortunate that the Congress government was trying it for its vested political interest for the coming Lok Sabha polls'', he added.

Criticising the Centre for its allegation on the Indian army and use of the word 'infiltration' linking a defence official in the Malegaon blast, Mr Singh said such thing was unfortunate and it would certainly have a bad impact on the morale of our jawans on the borders.

He demanded issuance of a 'white paper' by the centre on the investigation of all terrorist acts that took place in the country during the UPA regime. Rajnath said that India might be the only country in the world where there is no stringent law against terrorism.

''We are not against action on the guilty but before that concrete evidence should be collected against the person'', the BJP leader said.

He also questioned the reason behind delay in implementing the capital punishment to Parliament attack case convict Afzal Guru and asked what the government was doing against the 5000 sleeping terrorist modules in the country.

Threatening the UPA government about the backlash in the country over their effort to communalise terrorism, the BJP leader said the government should remove its aim to polarise the country over terrorism.
