Salem: Weavers demand minimum wages
Salem, Nov 11: Hundreds of weavers blocked the city roads demanding that the state pay the minimum wages allotted to them.
Hundreds of weavers were languishing in poverty. They also urged the government to take action against those who were using powerlooms for handlooms.
The weavers wanted the government to fix bonus for them and conduct cooperative elections so that the sick mills could be revived.
