MP: 12 BJP workers booked for abduction

Chhindwara, MP, Nov 11: Twelve BJP workers have been booked by the police for abducting an independent candidate when he was going to withdraw his nomination on the last day of withdrawal of nominations here yesterday.

Superintendent of Police Rajbabu Singh told reporters here independent candidate Daresh Parteti had lodged complaint against district BJP (Rural) President Sanjay Patel, Janpad Panchayat Vice President Gayasuddin Pasha and district BJP Yuva Morcha president Rajesh Bais.

According to the complaint, Mr Parteti was reluctant to contest election but BJP leaders forced him to fill form as an independent.

Mr Parteti was going along with his counsel to withdraw nomination when BJP leaders tried to forcibly put him in a car but police rescued him.

He was taken by police to concerned place.

Later, BJP workers created a ruckus and broke the gate of the collectorate premises and the door of the Returning Officer, police added.
