Bhagalpur Sep 2: Flood victims in Bihar's Bhagalpur District complained of government apathy, as they sat in their makeshift relief camps set up on roadside.

Languishing under the open sky in their makeshift camps, the victims find little relief as they struggle hard to save themselves from rains and heat sitting under a tarpaulin sheet.

Leading a life of nomads, these people are living a life of misery. Though the state administration has set up these relief camps, the flood victims complain of lack of proper facilities in these camps.

Apart from lack of proper facilities, there is also not enough food to feed so many mouths.

"We are languishing here under an open sky, facing the rains and water. There is no provision of any bedding, or any other facility to protect us from the water. There is nobody to listen to our woes," said Ram, a flood victim.

Meanwhile, authorities in flood-affected Purnia district distributed relief material to victims in the region.

Indian Air Force (IAF) has deployed 12 of its choppers for distributing relief materials to the villagers' everyday. The army, which had already deployed five columns of around 120 men, sent in another 14 and three naval companies.

The flooding, the worst in 50 years, was caused after the Kosi River breached a dam in Nepal, from where it originates. This unleashed huge waves of water that smashed mud embankments downstream in Bihar.
