124.40 Cr water treatment plant in Vaishali

Hajipur, Aug 18: The Bihar government has decided to install a water treatment plant in Vaishali district with a total investment of Rs 124.40 crore to contain arsenic in water.

Official sources said here today that arsenic impurities in water was a major health hazard to a large section of population in the district since long.

The plant to be established in Desri block, would purify the Ganges water and supply it to the affected parts in the district, sources added.

'' In another important step to provide safe drinking water to the people, Bihar government has sanctioned Rs two crore for installing a solar turnkey at Bidupur block to cater to the needs of the locals,'' sources informed.

'' Solar energy based, five Horse Power(HP) capacity motor, attached with the turnkey will supply 5000 litres water per hour,'' sources said adding its design is based on Australian technology which would ensure uninterrupted supply of water without being affected by power shortage.
