Etihad Airways commences service from Chennai

Chennai, Aug 2: The UAE-based Etihad Airways on Friday, August 1 commenced daily services from Chennai, reinforcing the airline's commitment to India.

Etihad Country Manager India and Sri Lanka Neeraja Bhatia received the inaugural flight at a special lamp lighting ceremony in the presence of Airport Director Dinesh Kumar. Etihad now operates 41 flights a week from UAE to India, with services from Abu Dhabi also serving the commercial capital Mumbai and the national capital New Delhi. The new Chennai service would operate as flight EY266 on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, leaving Abu Dhabi at 0850 hrs and arriving in Chennai at 1430 hrs.

On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the service operates as flight EY268, leaving Abu Dhabi at 0225 hrs and arriving in Chennai at 2005 hrs.

The Return flight EY267 would leave Chennai on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 1515 hrs, arriving in Abu Dhabi at 1745 hrs, on the same day.

On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the service would operate as flight EY269, leaving Chennai at 2100 hrs and arriving in the UAE capital at 2330 hrs.

The airline has also secured flying rights to Kolkatta and Jaipur and the new services would start in early 2009.
