Reliance Globalcom inks with Stealth for VOIP

Mumbai, Jun 24: Reliance Globalcom, a subsidiary of India's largest integrated telecom service provider Reliance Communications, today announced signing of a significant Strategic Alliance with Stealth Communications, for extending the worlds largest Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Network - Voice Peering Fabric (VPF).

With the signing of the strategic alliance, Voice Peering Fabric would use Reliance Globalcom's 65,000 km fully IP-enabled optic fibre network, to carry its VOIP traffic, the company said in a release here. Reliance Globalcom's Next Generation Network (NGN) would also enhance the reliability and the existing suite of product and service offerings, thereby increasing value and cost benefits of VoIP to end-users. The extended reach of VPF on Reliance Globalcom's network would enable Service Providers from new markets, to join the Plug-n-Play VoIP platform at attractive cost base. Reliance Globalcom would also offer termination of VoIP calls on traditional PSTN networks across the expanse of VPF, spread across 50 countries.

Located in the major international telecom hubs, VPF was the world's largest peering network for organisations to exchange voice (VoIP) and telephony related services, without relying on traditional telephone networks. VPF is designed as a private voice Internet platform, functioning as an exchange or meet-point for its members, to establish peer-to-peer connections in a secure, quality-of-service environment. In 2007, VPF carried a record traffic of 200 Billion Voice minutes, which is projected to double to 400 Billion voice minutes, this year.

VPF would have extended reach from two to 50 countries, besides providing Quality Enhancement, using the worlds largest IP-enabled integrated undersea optic network. It would also help enrichment of Product and Service Portfolio on Reliance Globalcom's NGN and Seamless termination of VOIP traffic to traditional PSTN networks Benefits to be accrued to Reliance Globalcom through the alliance included Quick go-to-market, for its innovative NGN services, Fast Ramp-up of international hubbing business, Increase network utilisation and Low cost sales channel for voice services.
