JK receives Rs 112 crore under NREGA from Centre

Srinagar, Jun 5: The Centre has provided an assistance of Rs 112 crore to the Jammu and Kashmir National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) and Rs 51.69 crore to other Centrally- sponsored schemes.

A spokesman of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) here said that Jammu and Kashmir had received an assistance of Rs 112 crore from the Centre under the NREGA during the past two years.

He also said Rs 51.69 crore was also provided to the state under the erstwhile Swarnjayanti Gram Rozgar Yojana (SGRY), Jawaharlal Gram Sarozgar Yojana (JGSY) and EAS schemes during the same period.

He added in the first phase NREGA was introduced in two districts of Kupwara and Doda in 2006-07. However, this year, it was extended to three more districts and from April this year the programme was being implemented in all the districts of the State. Surveys hadbeen conducted in all the districts and families to get benefitted had been identified, he said.
