South West Monsoon hits Kerala, Kollam gets 19 cm
Thiruvananthapuram, May 31: The South West Monsoon today hit the Kerala Coast bringing heavy rainfall in many parts of the state.
The Local Meteorological Centre said all conditions were favourable for monsoon to advance further in the state in the coming days.
Kollam received the highest rainfall of 19 cm in the last 24 hours followed by Piravam with 15 cm.
Other places which recorded good rainfall are (in cm) Kayamkulam (9), Kochi Airport (8), Varkala and Haripad (7 each).
The centre warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in many parts of the State and Lakshadweep.
Squally weather with wind speeds touching 45-55 kmph was likely over Kerala and Lakshadweep.
