SP transferred after lapses in Aarushi Murder case

By Staff

Lucknow, May 17 (UNI) The glaring lapses in the investigation of 14-year-old Arushi Talwar's shocking murder has become a huge embarrassment for Noida Police and the Superintendent of Police (city) Mahesh Kumar Mishra paid the price with a transfer to Varanasi late in the evening today.

UP Police Additional Director General (Law and Order) Brijlal told UNI, ''Due to the lapses in the investigation of Arushi Talwar's murder case, SP (City) Mahesh Kumar Mishra and Additional SP Special Task Force Ashok Tripathy, Allahabad, will replace him.'' Aarushi, a student of Delhi Public School, Noida and the only child of her parents, was found murdered last night at her posh Sector-25 residence here.

Investigators went into a tizzy when the blood-soaked body of the domestic help Hemraj was found this morning on the terrace of the house where the girl was murdered.

Police yesterday had said Hemraj had come last night in an inebriated condition and attacked Aurushi with a knife.

The Uttar Pradesh government handed over the whodunit to the Special Task Force (STF) for investigation and suspended the SHO of Sector 25 Police Station here for ''lack of investigation into the case.'' Rajesh Talwar, father of the girl, is a well-known dentist working in Fortis Hospital, Noida.

Hemraj, who hailed from Nepal, had been staying with the family in the servant's quarter of the house for the past eight months.
