Finance Minister Jayant Patil announced this yesterday in the Legislative Assembly while presenting the budget. However, the decision seems to have worried the officials of the AMC as they will have to set up a separate machinery or train their staff for collection of cess. The AMC, which has privatised the octroi, collects Rs 128 crore while its annual budget is Rs 350 crore. We will be needing at least 100 trained personnel for cess collection, an official said.
