PM's Varanasi visit from Mar 14, security tightens

Varanasi, Mar 13: Elaborate security arrangements were being made ahead the two-day visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh here from tomorrow.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) S B Siradkar today said ''12 company of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), two company of Rapid Action Force (RAF) and about 4,000 police jawans would be deployed for the PM's security.'' Dr Singh, who is arriving here tomorrow evening by a special Indian Air Force plane, would be recieved by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati at Babatpur airport.

From there he would go to Banaras Hindu University (BHU). In the evening, the PM would visit the famous Vishwanath temple along with his wife. Later, he would attend the 'ganga arti' at Dashashvamedh ghat.

On March 15, the PM would attend the 90th convocation of BHU and would leave for Delhi in the evening.

UP Governor T V Rajeswar would also attend the convocation, while Ms Mayawati would leave for Lucknow tomorrow itself.
