Maharashtra: North Indian family attacked by mob

{image-india mah_26022008.jpg news.oneindia.in}Nashik, Feb 26: The tirade against North Indians continued in the city with a family settled here facing the ire of unidentified miscreants who torched their house and vehicles today and threatened they would be burnt alive if they did not return to their hometown.

The incident which took place this afternoon at Shivaji Chowk area of CIDCO sent shock waves in the city, which bore the brunt of mob fury during the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) agitation against the North Indian community earlier this month. The unidentified persons entered 'Aaradhana Garments' owner Ramesh Bahadur's house in Shivaji Chowk area at around 1300 hrs. They assaulted Bahadur and his family and threatened them that they will be burnt alive if they failed to follow their instructions, police said. They then dragged the Bahadurs out and torched their house. All the household ites, a sewing machine and readymade garments were burnt. Later, the miscreants also torched an autorickshaw and two Scooties, police added.

Fire brigade personnel managed to douse the flames. A case has been registered under sections 143, 147, 148, 149, 452, 504 and 506 of the IPC against the miscreants. Police vigil has been intensified in the area and the situation was now under control.
