BSP demands withdrawal of hike in Stamp Duty
Bangalore, Feb 19: Bahujan Samaj Party National General Secretary P G R Sindhia today urged Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur to withdraw hike in Stamp Duty proposed to be effective from March One.
In a press release here, he said that the decision to hike Stamp Duty by 20 per cent will be a burden to people belonging to poor and middle classes and in some areas the stamp duty would be more than market price.
The former Karnataka Minister said that the hike would not bring additional revenue to the State Treasury since there was all possibility of fixing low price for the properties. More over the increase would also lead to increase in corruption, he said.
