'PM must call all party meet on Maha situation'

New Delhi, Feb 13: Janata Dal (United) President Sharad Yadav today expressed concern over the situation in Maharashtra and urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to call an all party meeting mmediately keeping in mind the seriousness of the matter.

An emergency meeting of the party office-bearers under the presidentship of Mr Yadav expressed concern about the recent happenings in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra as innocent poor are the soft target of fascist and hooligan elements, Party General Secretary Javed Raza said in a statement here. ''The sad state of affairs is the inaction of the central and state government. Both the government had become silent spectator to all what is happening in the state of Maharashtra.'' Mr Yadav appealed to all the sections of the society to maintain peace and harmony, and also urged the Prime to call an emergency all party meeting immediately keeping in mind the seriousness of the matter.

Among those who attended the meeting were Secretary General K C Tyagi, General Secretaries Arun Kumar Srivastava and Javed Raza and Secretaries Afaque Ahmad Khan, Virendra Singh Bidhuri and Irshad Ahmad.
