Capital shivers as mercury drops to 2.3 deg C
New Delhi, Jan 28: Icy cold winds continued to send Delhiites in a shiver for the second consecutive week with the mercury today plummeting to 2.3 degrees Celsius, six degrees below normal.
Cold northwesterly winds lent a chilly air to Delhi with the minimum temperature falling sharply to 2.3 degree Celsius. A slight mist was also witnessed in the morning though visibility levels remained normal at 1500m. The coming days could witness an intensification of the chill with the weathermen forecasting a drop in minimum temperature tomorrow to 2 degrees Celsius.
They have also forecast that northwesterly winds could continue blowing through the air for the next few days.
The met office has forecast a partly cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours.
This is the second consecutive week that northwesterly winds have maintained a severe chill in the Delhi air. Last week too, the cold winds had led to a sharp drop in mercury in Delhi.
