MCI vacancies filled up: Ramadoss
New Delhi, Dec 7: With the decision of the High Court to fill up all vacancies in the Medical Council of India, 110 out of the 130 vacancies of MCI members had been filled up, Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss informed the Rajya Sabha today.
Replying to supplementaries, the Minister, noting that there was a lacunae with regard to the number of doctors in rural areas compared to those in urban areas, said the Government has set up a National Rural Health Mission wherein specialised doctors would be appointed for serving in rural areas.
Also, under the Government policy, Government hospitals could set up medical colleges in areas under the NRHM.
