Georgia keen on co-productions of films with India

Panaji, Dec 1: Georgian Republic is keen to forge co-production film ventures with India for mutual benefit even as it was trying its best to participate in more International Film Festivals across the world.

Interacting with mediapersons here yesterday, directors of the Georgian film ''Svani'' Soso Jachvliani and Badri Jachvliani said some of the Indian producers had already visited Georgia for inspecting the prospective shooting locations. 'Svani' got entry inthe ongoing 38th edition of IFFI here.

The co-production of films with India would go a long way to benefit both the nations with similar cultural traditions and rich ties, they said.

The directors evinced interest to shoot films on several themes of Indian interest and even promote marriages between people of the two nations for stronger bonds.

The film reality-based''Svani'' is a legend about life, feud and love, In the highest populated Europe, high up in the Georgian part of Caucasus mountains, resides an ancient Christian tribe of Georgians, called Svanetians, who still follow the ancient tradition of blood revenge.

The film is woven around the theme though many people of modern era hate the tradition. It was screened in the competition section.
