Kolkata, Nov 23: A fresh Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed today before Calcutta High Court seeking a CBI inquiry into the recent killings in Nandigram and compensation to the victims and affected people.

Petitioner advocate Kalyan Banerjee said the High Court had ruled that the CBI should continue investigation into the March 14 incident in Nandigram which claimed 14 lives and injured 169.

''But the court did not issue any order for inquiry into the incidents this November in which nearly 12 people were killed,'' he said.

Mr Banerjee said the relatives of the victims should also get relief, as ordered by the High Court in the March 14 incident.

He alleged that hundreds of supporters belonging to the Bhumi Uchched Pratirodh Committee deserted their homes for fear of life and were living in relief camps. The court should issue an order to secure their safe return, he added.

The petition is likely to be heard next week.
