Rupee opens over 9-1/2 year peak at 39.24/26 per USD

The
Indian
Rupee
today
crosses
nine-and-half-year
peak
to
open
firm
at
39.24/26
per
US
dollar
as
compared
to
its
previous
close
of
39.32/33
per
dollar
on
the
global
cues.
The partially convertible Indian currency made smart start with a gain of another six paise against the greenback on the US Federal Reserve's rates cut by 25 basis points resulting into initial inflows in the Indian market, dealers said.
However, soon after few trades, the Reserve Bank of India intervened to cap the Indian currency around 39.30/31 per dollar at which it is trading currently without any major movements, dealers added.
