51 Kasturba Gandhi Awasi Vidyalayas coming up in J&K
Srinagar, Oct 21: The Centre will set up as many as 51 Kasturba Gandhi Awasi Vidyalayas (KGAVs) in Jammu and Kashmir on the line and pattern of Kendriya Vidyalayas, officials said today.
The move is an effort to reach out to those children rendered orphan due to nearly two decades of turmoil in the state, the officials said, adding the KGAVs would help these children get education which otherwise they could not afford.
They said Jammu and Kashmir had fared well in the execution of central schemes. In a recent nationwide survey, the state was placed at the 16th place in the execution of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and the Mid Day Meal Scheme (MDMS), the officials added.
