Mumbai, Oct 12 (UNI) A senior inspector, attached to the Borivali police station, was arrested by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 4000 from a mobile phone dealer late last evening.

The ACB sources said senior inspector L B Sheikh (55) had demanded Rs 5000 per month from 15 to 16 mobile phone dealers in the locality through a so-called social worker Dada alias Yuvraj alias Kishor Baburao Suryavanshi (45). Most of the dealers had agreed to pay Rs 4,000 per month.

However, one of the dealers Nirval Bipul Shah (20) lodged a complaint with the ACB on October 10 against Sheikh. Yesterday, Sheikh was nabbed red-handed by ACB sleuths while accepting the bribe.

Police have recovered cash of Rs 150,300 from the briefcase of the accused. Police have also recovered Rs 9410 from Suryavanshi's person and a search of the latter's residence yeilded another Rs 29,500, sources added.
