Police said Mohammed Abdullah, hailing from Assam, was taken into custody after residents of Bowenpalli near Secunderabad detained him as he was moving around in a suspicious manner. The youth had injuries on his head and hands. He was handed over to the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing the terror strikes.
Meanwhile, Srinivasa Rao, who was seriously injured in the blast at Gokul Chat, breathed his last at Care Hospital. He was taking shelter from heavy rains at the Bhandar, when a powerful blast rocked the eatery.
The special police team was conducting checks in the Old City, Saidabad and Malakpet on information that some sympathisers and supporters of various terrorist organisations were residing there.
Police were also questioning Bangladesh and Pakistan citizens overstaying in the city. There were reportedly 20 such foreign nationals who were overstaying.
The arrested in the Rs 2.6 crore fake currency racket, busted on August 25, were also grilled as the police were looking into the possible link between the racket and the terror strikes.
