Security beefed up in Ayodhya

Ayodhya, Aug 26: Security was beefed up at the on the ongoing 'Sawan mela' at Ram Janambhoomi following the terrorist attack in Hyderabad yesterday.

In view of the increasing number of devotees thronging the 'sawan mela' here, tight security arrangements had been made, Senior Superintendent of Police Bhagwat Prasad Tripathi said today.

Strict vigil was being made at all the routes leading to the sacred place, besides diverting the traffic, he added.

He said six Additional Superintendents of Police, 26 Superintendents of police, three inspectors, 130 sub-inspectors, six PAC companies and rapid action force, and bomb disposal squads had been deployed.

Close circuit cameras (CCTVs) had been installed at various corners, while policemen in civil dresses to keep eye at every suspect had also been deployed.

Devotees coming to visit 'Ram lala' are being frisked throughly.

To maintain proper supervision, entire area had been divided into 30 sectors and each sector was provided with an in-charge, District Magistrate Anil Garg said.

Boats had been pressed into services for the devoteees coming to bath in the sacred Saryu, besides deploying forces near the river.

Besides, security other factors like cleaniness and sanitation were also kept in mind and about 100 sweepers were inducted and more than 400 people had been employed for cleaning and maintenance.
