India to become 3rd power by 2040: Kidwai

Chandigarh, July 30: India will be the third power after the U S and China by year 2040, Haryana Governor A R Kidwai said today.

''However, every citizen will have to work at a faster pace in order to make the country self reliant, self-sustained and developed one,'' Dr Kidwai said while presiding over the 5-day Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign being held at Naraingarh in Ambala district.

He said 400 foreign companies had established their offices here in India as there was ample technical skilled labour available in India as compared to other countries.

Medicines and spare parts of cars were being manufactured here and being exported to other countries, he added.

Dr Kidwai said that under Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan, children aged between 6 and 14 years were to be admitted in the schools and the state would make effort that no child was left out.

He hoped that after attending school education they would get admission in ITIs, Technical and Engineering educational institutions.

Under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGA) every able bodied person had the right to get 100 days employment in a year, he said.

Congratulating the Press Information Bureau for reaching out to the rural masses through Public Information Campaigns, the Governor said that such campaigns should be conducted in every village to make the people aware about their welfare schemes.
