Forces deployment under PM, Sonia consideration

Srinagar, July 29: Union Water Resources Minister Saifuddin Soz has said the deployment of security forces and related issues were under the consideration of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

Addressing a public meeting at Bahrampora in Rafiabad area of Baramulla district, he said both these leaders want to provide all possible solace to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Prof Soz said the Centre and the Jammu and Kashmir government wanted to provide relief to the people so that they could live in peace and harmony. The deployment of Army and the police force would be according to the requirements of this objective, he added.

The Union Minister said the security of life and property of the common people was the paramount objective of the government.

''Wherever the Army is needed for it, it will remain deployed and wherever the police can take the responsibility, it will be deployed,'' he added.

Prof Soz said the public property under the occupation of security forces should be adequately compensated as assured by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad himself.
