1039 pilgrims leave for cave shrine of Amarnath
Jammu, July 27: A fresh batch, comprising 1039 pilgrims, today left for Pahalgam and Baltal base camps from where they will move for the holy cave shrine of Shri Amarnath in south Kashmir, official sources said here.
The convoy of 35 vehicles, including 23 buses and 12 light motor vehicles (lmv), left from the base camp of Maulana Azad Memorial (MAM) stadium amid tight security for Nunwan (Pahalgam) and Baltal yatra camps at around 0500 hrs, they added.
The convoy included 145 women, 16 children and 99 sadhus.
With today's batch, a total of 43,477 pilgrims have left for the holy shrine from the Jammu base camp since July 2, the sources said.
