All Indian Bank branches to go CBS by Mar '08

Chennai, July 22: The Indian Bank will bring all its branches under core banking solutions (CBS) by March, 2008, its Chairman and Managing Director M S Sundara Rajan said.

Addressing the Press here last night, he said of the 1,471 branches, 1131 were already brought under CBS. All the 77 extension counters of the bank would be enhanced to full fledged branches.

Centralisation of pension activities was undertaken on a pilot basis he said adding a pilot project on introduction of smart cards was taken up in two locations Virudhachalam in Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu and Dharavi in Mumbai. It will be soon introduced in Kaligram in Kolkata. As many as 1000 smart cards would be issued in each location.

In continuation of its financial inclusion efforts, the bank has launched a new delivery model- ''Ind Online Door Step Banking'' on a pilot basis for setting up rural kiosks to deliver banking facilities at the door step of common man at Ariyoor in Puducherry.
