Naxals remove rail track in Chhattisgarh
Jagdalpur (Chhattisgarh), June 25: Rail traffic on the Bailadila-Vishakhapatnam route remained disrupted as the Maoist Naxalites removed a 30-metre track near Kamalur village in Dantewada district last night ahead of the two-day economic blockade from tomorrow, official sources said today.
The Vishakhapatnam-Jagdalpur passenger train has also been cancelled today, they said.
Police has been kept on extra vigil across the state in view of the Naxal blockade call, while the Railway Protection Force and CISF personnel deployed in iron ore mines have also been alerted, Bastar range Inspector General R K Vij said.
Dantewada Collector P R Pisda said maintenance of basic infrastructure was given priority following the recent week-long power blackout in Bastar region after transmission towers were destroyed allegedly by the Naxalites.
