Pranab calls S'pore PM to enhance bilateral coop
Singapore, June 20: External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee today called on Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and discussed ways of further enhancing bilateral cooperation across a broad front.
Mr Lee and Mr Mukherjee agreed to encourage more two-way investments between the two countries.
They also exchanged views on key developments in South Asia, said Singapore Foreign Affairs Ministry in a statement today.
It said Mr Lee encouraged India's continued engagement of East and Southeast Asia as this will bring even more mutual benefits.
Mr Mukherjee told Mr Lee that India considered Singapore as the heart of its ''Look East'' policy.
He also called Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew and Deputy Prime Minister S Jayakumar.
Yesterday, he called on Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong.
Mr Mukherjee was in Singapore on a three-day official visit during which he held meetings with Singapore Foreign Minister George Yeo and Trade and Industry Minister Lim Hng Kiang as well as Singapore and Indian business leaders.
He leaves for home tonight.
