Anganwadi workers joined naxals in Chhattisgarh?
Bijapur (Chhattisgarh), May 22: As many as 23 women workers, who went missing over the past four months in this district's Anganwadi centres, are suspected to have joined Naxal organisations.
''Of this district's 128 centres, 31 are not functional,'' said an official of the Bijapur Anganwadi Project Office. As these centres are located in faraway rural regions, it is hard to determine where exactly the workers are.
''People are free to adopt ideology of their choice and the assistants are not government employees and they receive honorarium of Rs 500 per month,'' said Dantewada's Collector K R Pisda.
