93 blasts: Court to decide fate of dismissed cops
Mumbai, May 19: The fate of four dismissed policemen, convicted by the designated TADA court in the 1993 serial blasts case, will be decided on May 21.
Judge P D Kode will pronounce the quantum of sentence upon these dismissed police constables who include S Y Pashilkar, R D Mali, P M Mahadik and A M Muneshwar. These four had earlier been held guilty by the court under Section 3(3) of TADA but the quantum of sentence was to be announced.
Dismissed sub inspector V K Patil's case is expected to be taken up later as he is also convicted under section 120 B of the Indian Penal Code besides Section 3(3) of TADA.
The prosecution charge was that when a truck, laden with arms and ammunition, was intercepted at Ghondgar Phata near Alibaug in Raigad district, Patil and seven constables had allowed it to pass without checking after receiving a bribe of Rs 7 lakh.
The three other constables -- Manohar More, Krishna Pingle and Krishna Mokal -- were acquitted by the court as the prosecution could not prove their presence at the scene of the crime. Patil was attached to the Srivardhan police station.
