Rupee opens weaker at 40.87/88 per dollar
Mumbai, May 18: The Indian Rupee today fell further to an intra-day low of 40.92 per dollar and opened weak at 40.87/88 as compared to the previous close of 40.85/86 with no movements in the market, dealers said.
The opening mark of 40.87/88, was the intra-day high but it later plunged to mark a low of 40.92 on weak inflows. The domestic unit is currently trading at 40.89/90.
The Rupee came under pressure after most Asian currencies fell against a broadly stronger dollar.
The Rupee has gained more than 8 per cent against the dollar this year, dealers added.
