Bangalore, Mar 5: Jnanapeeth awardee U R Ananthamurthy on Sunday said that urban development will not be complete if problems of aged and children are not addressed properly.

Speaking at the inauguration of 'Namma Bengaluru: Citizens Forum' in Bangalore on Sunday, Mr Ananthamurthy said that priority is usually given to youth when it comes to developmental issues, while the aged and children are neglected.

Former additional CS and honorary president of the forum Chiranjeev Singh said that Bangalore city is getting worse day by day. "Many think that Metro Rail would solve the traffic problem. It's a foolish thought. I am sure the condition of traffic would become still worse if it is implemented", he said.

Terming Bangalore a heartless city, Mr Singh blamed the government, BMP, industrialists, owners of commercial establishments for making city 'heartless'.

State Planning Board Vice-Chairman A Ravindra said that the unique feature of Bangalore is that people belonging to different religions, culture and language live together.

Efforts should be made to continue with that diversity, he added.
