Telegu University to confer Doctorate to Hemalata

Vijayawada, Feb 25: Noted social worker, atheist and literary figure Hemalata Lavanam will be honoured with a Honorary Doctorate by Sri Potti Sriramulu Telugu University.

Talking to source here, Atheist Centre Executive Director G Vijayam said the Doctorate will be conferred UP on Ms Lavanam by Andhra Pradesh Governor Rameswhar Thakur in the Convocation at Ravindra Bharati in Hyderabad tomorrow.

Earlier, the University had chosen her as an outstanding worker, as she was involved in a number of social activities like Jogini and Criminal Rehabilitation, he added.

The other recipients, who will be conferred the Doctorate, included Kalipatnam Rama Rao for literature, G S Varadachary for journalism and A Radhakrishna Raju for his services to telegu people in other states.
