Ex-naxalite leader Mandakini Narayanan dead

Kozhikode, Dec 16: Former Naxalite leader Mandakini Narayanan died of old age-related illness at her residence here early today.

She was 83. Ms Narayanan is survived by daughter K Ajitha, a former naxal leader and well-known activist.

Born in Gujarat, Ms Narayanan was educated in Mumbai and later shifted to Kozhikode after her marriage with Naxal Leader Kunnikkal Narayanan.

Ms Narayanan who taught at the Kozhikode Gujarati School was imprisoned in connection with Pulppally Police Station Attack Case during the emergency.

Family sources said her funeral will be held here this evening.
