KCR ends fast on Telangana issue
New Delhi, Aug 25: Telangana Rastra Samiti (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhara Rao ended his fast at the Jantar Mantar here tonight after two days of the protest on the statehood issue.
He ended the fast after Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar visited him at the protest site and appealed to him to end the fast in the larger interest of the strugle that he is leading on behalf of the people of Telangana.
''The UPA partners are with you in your strugle, and considering the appeal from Lok Sabha Speaker Som Nath Chatterjee and others, you should end your fast so as to maintain your health and carry this strugle forward,'' Mr Pawar said.
He then offered Mr Rao a glass of fruit juice which the TRS leader accepted.
Mr Rao had begun the protest fast here yesterday, a day after the TRS withdrew from the UPA government to press the statehood issue.
