RJD came close to assaulting Prabhunath Singh in LS

New Delhi, Aug 24: In an ugly and shocking scene in the Lok Sabha today, Mr Sadhu Yadav (RJD) came close to assaulting Mr Prabhunath Singh (JD-U) seconds after the House had adjourned, and some RJD members angrily banged the table in the well of the House, breaking a mike box and sending papers flying in all directions.

The shameful incident was witnessed after Mr Prabhunath Singh had made some remarks about unconstitutional interventions of some central ministers in the affairs of Bihar.

Though some of the provocative remarks of Mr Prabhunath Singh were expunged by Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, RJD members created a ruckus in the House and menacingly rushed towards the well. As some of them were on the verge of entering the well, the Speaker adjourned the House at 1310 hrs till 1400 hrs.

But the RJD members were unrelenting. Mr Sadhu Yadav, brother-in- law of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, crossed the floor and came face-to-face with Mr Prabhunath Singh. After some heated argument, Mr Yadav was prepared to deal a punch with a clenched fist on Mr Prabhunath Singh.

But he was physically prevented from this by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi and other members. But before this could happen, Mr Prabhunath Singh also had clenched his fist to retaliate.

House Marshalls and watch and ward staff were summoned inside in full force to prevent the situation from getting worse.

The scene continued for about half-an-hour in the presence of Leader of the House and Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee and BJP Deputy Leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra and other members, who stayed put despite the adjournment of the House.

An RJD member picked up the mike box of Lok Sabha reporters and threw it towards the BJP benches.

Later, a BJP member was holding aloft the mike box which had come off at joints. A few other BJP members were waving the files that had fallen off the table used by official reporters following the impact of the banging by an RJD member.
