SL opens new front, bombs camp: Tamil Tigers
Colombo, Aug 11: Sri Lanka's Tamil Tigers said today the military had opened a new front in fighting in the island's east, and fighter jets had bombed one of their training camps in the district of Batticaloa, killing many rebels.
''This is another very serious offensive,'' S Puleedevan, head of the Tigers' peace secretariat, told Reuters by telephone. ''The Sri Lankan armed forces are opening new fronts and mounting offensive attacks. Many of our members are dead.''
